We Support Toys for Tots
Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. The program was founded in 1947 by reservist Major Bill Hendricks. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens. The program also unites members of local communities in a common cause each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign. Over its life span, the Marine Toys for Tots Program has distributed over 512 million toys to over 237 million less fortunate children.
In 2013, with the encouragement of one of our dental hygienists, Rhonda Johnson, Danville Dental Associates decided to partner with our local Marine Corps League Toys for Tots Team Leader, Bob Holland, to serve as a collection point for toys for the Danville-Pittsylvania County area. Patients are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys during November and December to one of Danville Dental’s locations. One patient faithfully donates eight bicycles each year with proceeds from her sale of Thirty-One products. With the generous support of our patients and the community, Danville Dental Associates has been recognized by the Marine Corps League as the top toy collector in Danville-Pittsylvania County each year since we joined the program.
